Open Educational Resources

Open Access vs. Open Educational Resources

Open Access is the free, immediate, online availability of research articles combined with the rights to use these articles fully in the digital environment.

They are always free to read and are never behind paywalls or any other access restrictions.

OERs are always Open Access but not every Open Access resource is an OER. The Open Access resources that are not OERs will have different licensing terms and are not able to be "remixed" or changed. It is important to look at an open resource's licensing before using, changing, and redistributing it.

Open Access Art Databases

The following databases are Open Access databases pertaining to the arts. They are not necessarily Open Educational Resources and may not be under public domain or the Creative Commons licensing.
