Zines are more than only creative publications but are tools of activism and communication. Historically, they were used to not only tell queer stories but in advocacy, such as passing on life-saving information on AIDs, news on queer international activism, and practices in harm reduction. Today, zines serve the same purpose of politics and storytelling.
"Zines run the gamut in both quality and subject matter, but they all share a common and salient thread— they speak for their time, they are unedited, they are personal, and they deal with things you would never read about in major publications, from the personal to the political and beyond."
