The Commercial Pattern Archive database, CoPA-Online, allows researchers and designers to recreate or date clothing from 1847 to the present, through the preservation of commercial patterns (mostly full-scale patterns designed for tissue paper), with over over 55,000 scanned images (garments & pattern schematics) from 61,000 commercially produced patterns.
Housed in the Department of Human Ecology at the University of Alberta, and used for teaching, learning and research, this collection includes everyday and designer wear spanning 350 years of history, as well as related equipment such as needlework tools, patterns, magazines and photographs.
